The COVID-19 pandemic has caused great stress on all of us, but much more so on those we recognize through the THEME of the limited Spirit of the Fourth celebration for 2021:

"Honoring Our Healthcare Workers

and All Providers of Essential Services"

Spirit of the Fourth, 2021 is now in the history books and your committee looks forward to a much more complete celebration for July 4th, 2022. The Fireworks and Evening Entertainment at the RB High School complex was a great success, with the public welcome to enjoy the event from the field. Hats Off to the evening events coordinator, Lynn Ewing.

At Webb Lake Park, after approval of Rancbo Bernardo Town Center Property Owner's Association, the Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial Association was able to hold a traditional ceremony with public participation. Quilts of Valor's Awards Coordinator, Kay Lettington, participated through an award of a beautiful quilt to the keynote speaker. A photo of the award presentation with Kay, Peggy Johnson, and Tom Lettington is here.

It is with great sadness that we must report that our long-time Spirit of the Fourth Board Member, Earl Asbury, recently passed away as a result of the COVID-19 virus. We will miss him very much.

The 50th Anniversary of the Spirit Of The Fourth event on July 4th, 2019 was a tremendous success. We have a wonderful nine and a half minute video for all to enjoy. Click HERE! to view the video. The video was made for us by our 2019 official photographer: Geoff Miasnik, Photographer.

We look forward to seeing as many of them as we can and honoring them for keeping the Spirit alive through our fifty years of celebrations.

Larry McIntyre: 1995

Brian Habib 2003

Steve DeMatteo: 2010-2013

Bryan Brigham: 2014-2015

For the past several years we have focused on themes that recognize veterans, first responders, youth and education. Since this is the 50th anniversary of Spirit of the Fourth, we have decided to change the focus this year to be our organization and what we have accomplished during those 50 years. Therefore, the 2019 theme will be:

Spirit of the Fourth

"Celebrating Our Golden Year"

The full printed program of the 2019 Spirit of the Fourth Celebration was distributed to about 20,000 homes in the area on June 27th. For an advanced look, please click here to download a copy.

We Need Your Help
In order for our celebration to be a success, we need to raise about $70,000. Your donation enables us to continue providing special events which include the parade and our spectacular fireworks display!

If you had fun this year or last year and/or are planning to enjoy the celebration next year, please consider contributing. Our sponsors provide some of the funding, but we rely on members of the community to meet the budget. Thank You!
